My Favorite Foods & Foods I Love | Vegetarian Diet

Hi everyone! I thought I’d share
with you some of my favorite foods and what I like to eat and
cook. This is a follow up video about my diet so I’ll have an
annotation and a link in the description if you would like to
learn how I became a vegetarian. My diet in that previous video
from July of 2014 was actually pescetarian, in that I was
a vegetarian that ate fish. Vegetarians do not eat meat, but
pescetarian is a specific term when a vegetarian does not eat
any other meat besides fish. However, I no longer eat fish
and am strictly vegetarian. I am not vegan and have no desire to
become one anytime soon. I did start to notice some
health problems when becoming a vegetarian so I know that with
a vegan diet it would be even harder for me to maintain a
healthy diet. A vegan diet can heavily lack certain vitamins,
specifically fat soluble vitamins, which is why many
vegans at one point may deal with vitamin deficiencies such
as vitamin D and especially B vitamins. This can cause a
lower bone density, such as osteoporosis, as well as
neurological damage to the nervous system and brain. So,
having a vegan diet has to be done a certain way to prevent
these things since they can cause serious, long-term damage
if not done correctly. Anyway, before I begin I would also like
to say that I never really ate much sweet candies or chocolates
before. And then all of a sudden it was all I wanted to eat and I
would just buy cookies and sweet things at the grocery store.
While it was organic and all natural, it was a lot of sugar.
I determined it was due to a lack of vitamins in my diet,
specifically vitamin D and B vitamins. Some of the B
vitamins can mostly be obtained from meat, so if you go
vegetarian or vegan, be sure to get enough
vitamin D and B vitamins since I have
been losing that desire to eat all that sugar which was
bad for my teeth and body. The dietary supplements I personally
take are vitamin D3, vitamin K-complex, as well as a vitamin
B-complex. These are ones I personally take and it works for
me. If you suspect any kind of deficiency, please get in touch
with your doctor since I cannot give you any suggestions of what
you should take, or what you shouldn’t take, or if you are
deficient. Anyway, so those are the supplements that help me,
however the types of food I like vary greatly. I love Indian,
Asian, Mexican, Italian, and Greek foods. I love to cook and
make things. For breakfast each morning I make a protein shake.
It consists of milk, currently I am using flaxmilk but I switch
milks all the time. I was using organic, grass-fed cow’s milk.
This certainly is the premium milk that may cost a bit
more, but doesn’t have any added hormones or other crap. Plus,
the cows eat grass and not grain and are not kept in some
building and are out eating grass like they are supposed
to. So, I use a cup of milk, flaxmilk currently which is made
of flaxseeds. Then I add a few tablespoons of ground flaxseeds,
even had the one with chia seeds in it which is nice. Then I
add in a few tablespoons of the protein power, which is hemp
protein. Then a tablespoon or a little more of coconut oil, my
favorite. The coconut oil is for fat since everything else in
this shake has pretty much no fat to it. A tablespoon of
coconut oil provides more than half your daily saturated fat
intake so it’s quite good at fatten up a drink like this.
And then top it all off with a banana. It is smoother and taste
better if the banana is at least a bit yellow since the hemp
protein is not a good taste and the banana really covers it up.
I blend it all up and it makes almost two cups of a protein
shake that has about half my daily value of protein for the
day. I drink this each morning. I decided on hemp
protein because when I heavily researched protein powders, I
discovered that many of them contain heavy metals, such as
mercury, so I didn’t want to consume them for a prolonged
period of time. Hemp protein seemed to be the cleanest and
only contains one ingredient, hemp. The others were several
different types of protein sources mixed in. Plus, hemp
seems to be relatively cheap compared to those other ones.
For lunch time I tend to make a frozen meal. Sometimes a frozen
Amy’s organic brand meal like burrito, enchilada, pizza,
lasagna, pot pie, so many other things. In addition, other
frozen foods I really love are spinach and feta quiche,
these spinach and feta filo spanakopitas, as well as samosas
with some tamarind and green chili chutney. I enjoy vegetable
spring rolls as well as raw vegetable spring
rolls wrapped in rice paper. I even like various
kinds of Asian soups, like miso soup, spicy ramens,
these very thin noodles as well as some rice
noodles. Those, as well as the other Asian foods
I enjoy, I usually eat with chopsticks. I have these nice
metal ones that I’ve gotten quite good at. I never use to
know how to use chopsticks at all and was quite bad, but I’m
pretty good now I’d say. Now usually for dinner time I
will prepare something. Some of my top favorites are pizza. What
I do with pizza is use a gluten free pizza crust, which is good,
but there is this non-gluten free one I really love as well.
But anyway, I use that and sauté onions in coconut oil, add just
enough sauce, but not too much, then mix in a ton of herbs and
spices, then if I have it I will put fresh basil leaves on it.
For toppings I use the sautéd onions, garlic, jalapeños,
black olives, kalamata olives, tomatoes if I have any, as well
as an Italian cheese blend and feta cheese, which is one of my
favorite cheeses. I don’t like too much cheese, but just
enough. Other foods I enjoy making are various spicy
vegetable curries that I eat with black rice. Spicy wontons
and vegetable potstickers which is always cooked in coconut oil
since that is the best. French onion soup which is my favorite
type of soup, again the onions are cooked in coconut oil.
Even just something like grilled cheese I make super fancy. I
use moderately thick slices of Italian bread and add an Italian
cheese blend and feta cheese, as well as fresh basil if I have it
and tomatoes. I cook this up in coconut oil and eat it with
tomato vegetable alphabet soup, which has carrots, potatoes,
corn, and green beans in it. I’ve made various veggie burgers
usually with onions, tomatoes, pickles. I usually eat this
with fries, like veggie fries or sweet potato fries. I enjoy
making quesadillas with onions, jalapeños, kalamata olives,
black olives, and Mexican cheese blend. Cook that up in the oven
and get it nice and crispy and have it with a ton of hot sauce.
I like raviolis and pastas and put a ton of herbs and
spices in the sauce. Since I am vegetarian, I eat fake products.
So, fake fish, fake chicken, fake turkey, and fake
beef products. I like making vegetarian chili with
corn, beans, onion, jalapeño, cilantro. And vegetarian tacos
and sloppy joes. Something I like to do with the fake
chicken is make a mashed potato bowl. I get mashed potatoes, mix
in corn, as well as pieces of crispy fake chicken. Then to
make it wonderful, a ton of hot sauce. It looks like orange slop
when it’s all made, but is super tasty and spicy. I love various
fruits and vegetables and other things. I love bananas, apples,
kiwi, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, oranges,
cranberries, even can eat raw cranberries which are very good,
onion, garlic, jalapeños, corn, spinach, kale, tomato. Those
are the ones I probably eat the most. As for snacks, something
as simple as some bread with olive oil is super tasty heated
in the oven for a bit. You can add cheese, tomato, and basil to
it as well and it’s excellent. I love frozen pretzels that are
pizza and grilled flavor, kale chips, which are dried pieces of
kale, salsas with chips, hummus. I’ve made bruschetta which is
one of my favorite snacks. I put a whole leaf of basil and
some feta cheese on it and it’s really good heated up in the
oven. And another thing that I haven’t personally made but love
is caprese. Not really a snack food I suppose, but I would
eat it as a snack. But, it’s basically sliced tomatoes and
mozzarella with basil and olive oil and/or balsamic vinaigrette.
Interesting story about caprese, I use to pronounce it as
ca-pree-s. It was only when a friend and I went out to dinner
just in the beginning of 2015 that we both got it and she
pronounced it caprese. And I was like, is that how it’s actually
pronounced? And, we asked the waitress and she was right. All
this time I was pronouncing it incorrectly. As for candy and
sweet snacks and nuts, I enjoy various protein bars. I eat them
occasionally, usually between meals. I love peanuts, almonds,
and cashews. I also enjoy very dark chocolate, like 90% or
higher. I want to try 100% so maybe someday. Maybe some
chocolate covered fruits, coconut milk ice cream, avocado
ice cream, any other unusual things. I don’t eat many sweets
like that and would prefer naturally sweet things, such as
fruit. So, that is just some of the foods I enjoy. There are
plenty of others I love since I enjoy trying new things.
But for now, these are some of my top favorites. And, maybe
it sparked your hunger. I know on my previous diet video that
people mentioned they wanted to see the pizza I was talking
about that I made. Maybe one day I will show how I prepare that
and make a few other things. Maybe even non-food tutorials as
well such as how I make candles, body creams, toothpaste and
hopefully makeup soon since I want to try to make my
own makeup. But for now, I’ll leave you with
some suspense. “You’re not going to say thanks
for watching at the end?” That’s what you’re
thinking right now. I’m not, I’m not
going to say it. Ok, ok! Thanks for watching!
And, I truly do mean that, so thank you!

  1. I'm so happy you're a vegetarian <3 I was also pescatarian but you just end up realizing vegetarian is the way! love you Autumn , so proud

  2. My mother and sister are both vegetarians and I am trying very hard to become one myself. I have cut out pork and beef completely. I still eat chicken and fish though.

  3. Definitely see a doctor if you think you have a vitamin deficiency. Don't just start taking over the counter supplements because you can have too much of a vitamin, which would cause negative side effects. If you're concerned about vitamin B12, you can try nutritional yeast and other foods because vitamins from foods are better than supplements. A B12 supplement likely won't hurt you because it is water soluble vitamin. Just be very careful with fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E, and K)!

  4. I want to become a vegetarian but my parents, sister and boyfriend all eat a lot of meat :/ This video makes me really, really hungry 😛

  5. Good morning Autumn 🌹💕, you look gorgeous as you do, every time I see you. Yes those vitamins are very important to our system. Those morning shakes sound so tasty. I would like to see you make some of your favorite foods. Enjoy your Friday.🌞 and have a great wknd. You are so amazing and inspirational. Keep doing you Autumn🌹💕

  6. I'm not sure why some people have read too much into what I was saying about a vegan diet being unhealthy, but I simply do not agree. A vegan diet can be extremely healthy and beneficial, but it has to be done correctly. A lack of vitamins is what will happen if it's inappropriate implemented and this can cause serious problems. Definitely make sure you are getting appropriate vitamins so you don't feel a lack of energy or other problems. I faced this and am doing better since getting what I needed in my diet. There is nothing I'm trying to be offensive about in this video so I would appreciate the same in return. Thanks!

  7. I love to cook too, sometimes I'll have something in mind to cook, but it'll turn into something completely different XD Oh, and feta is the best 😅

  8. I really enjoy watching your videos Autumn, they are always so helpful and you seem like such a nice person. Dont care about the shit people say, keep on doing your thing! x

  9. Hi! 🙂 i'm glad you are vegetarian! it can be a great step in the right direction! i'm a vegan and id like to comment on some things you mentioned. When i first went vegan i thought the same thing, because i got thin, broke out in rashes and my doctor told me i was deficient, so i went back to being vegitarian. However, i did not know what an optimal vegan diet was! I was simply detoxing the vast amount of toxins i had accumulated from eating chemicals and animal products. It can be very true that vegans dont get enough vitamens! If as a vegan, you eat a lot of processed vegan foods, breads or only veggies and greens. The most important aspect of any diet i beleive, is fruit! we greatly underestimate fruit as a source of nutrition, i beleive humans are designed to eat fruit (if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense even without considering scientific research) If you research fruititarians on youtube you will find a host of videos of people describing how eating a high fruit diet has completely cured them of all illnesses and changed their life for the better!! contrary to popular belief, fruit sugar is ESSENTIAL to the human body, while processed sugar is detrimental. (kinda confusing haha) I encourage you to research about fruit! its helped me immensely!! best of luck, and love <3

  10. Wuv your videos Autumn! >u< been watching them for about a year and a half by now :3
My favourite foods are italian! everything that has tomato sauce and pasta, and cheese, like Lasagna <3

  11. I LOVE your videos!!! theyre are always so soothing to watch no matter what youre talking about and i always find what you say interesting and helpful(: thanks for that

  12. I'm non Vegetarian and I always wonder how Vegans and Vegetarians stay full all day. Like if I don't eat meat or eggs I feel so hungry a few hours later. However beans keep me full. I think it has to do more with the fact I have a really quick metabolism.

  13. I had just had breakfast about an hour ago when I watched this video, now I'm hungry again. I hope that you do make some of those tutorials as I really need to learn how to cook more things. I can do pasta and stir fry and that's about it. I'd also be very interested in a tutorial on how to make your own toothpaste because it can be quite expensive, especially when trying to stick to brands that don't use palm oil (the stuff their killing Orangutans to grow) or test on animals.

  14. Veganism makes a much bigger difference for the body, the environment and for animals. Don't understand why people go vegetarian for life when it's not an amazing lifestyle at all when you look into it.

  15. Can you please do a video on neglect and dealing with abandonment issues? I often feel unwanted and alone (and literally ignore by my family, as when I try to talk to my own mother, she refuses to speak to me), often resulting in me breaking into tears and I don't know how to get over it. My close friends often disregard what I have to say in conversation, and I know they don't mean to do it intentionally, but it still hurts a lot because I feel like what I have to say isn't important. I try to be happy and move on but it's very hard.

  16. You should try eating a Big Mac at McDonald's. I heard that the burgers at fast food establishments can make a person buff (muscular) because of all the steroids in the beef. Unfortunately A&W now claims to no longer use beef with steroids in it. 🙁

  17. I just became lacto-vegetarian about a month ago, and my parents kinda neglect me when it comes to food. They tell me to fend for myself because they don't agree with it.

  18. I take vitamins to which I claim make me high. cir-Q tonic and inspira cell. they're spouse to make me relax and not have so much thinking, but I fight it and can never relax because I think I will die. I trust no one and am fearful always. I have schizoaffective disorder. I have more issues than you autmn, but I will never get better. suicide is the answer!

  19. Love this vlog, Autumn! We have the same favorite foods in common (though New Mexican food is at the top of my fave food list :)); I'd love to be on a vegan diet but it would be too hard for me. I often forget taking my vitamins and end up feeling crappy. I'm just not consistent with my diet. I'm somewhat vegetarian but not consistently. Does that make sense? LOL

  20. Interesting video as always, love your vidz
You talk about food in front of someone who loves food ?? thanks for making me hungry :))
I think you should be a chef
I always thought that vegans are a bit weird and when you try to tell this to them you know the typical answer "oh so its weird not to eat dead animals??" and im all "SHUT UP AND EAT YOUR MEAT ALREADY" haha… i'm just kidding, i respect people's choice
Wish you a good day/night (depending on when you read this 🙂 )

  21. Truth, truth! I went vegan in January and exactly on point – my Vit D and B12 extremely low. Thank you for sharing! ^~^ Would you mind sharing which supplement brands you prefer?

  22. Veganism is okay if someone's into it, but lots of vegans are arrogant sacks of shit. Meat eaters are awful terrible monsters to them, but they act as if our ancestors ate salads for survival. Not only that, they probably have family or friends that eat animal byproducts or have leather seats in their car, or shop at a store with animal products. I appreciate what they do, but they've got to get off their high horse.

  23. I've never had the guts to ask you about the eye contact thing. You don't feel comfortable looking at the camera or is it something else? i'm not here to insult you by the way. Just friendly asking

  24. on 1:10 it's true but only fast food vegans have the problems of not getting enough vitamins. Add in whole foods and you have nothing to fear.

  25. Basil on pizza is the best!! If you have it in your area, try the Daiya cheeze. Also, Uptons makes amazing faux bacon (seitan). It's awesome.
You're awesome! love your posts, keep it up! 🙂

  26. I love hearing you talk. You're so calming, and amazing. If I didn't have your videos to watch to calm and center me I don't know what I'd do ❤️

  27. I really think I could go vegan I'm just not familiar with sub for ground beef (tacos) or bacon and cheese- my downfall😂

  28. I really love videos like this one, and when you talked about makeup. I enjoy just listening to you talk about things you enjoy and being a bit less scripted.

  29. You should check out the paleo diet or even better a low carb high fat diet. You will be surprised what you find out about the health benefits of these diets. At the very least it would be wise to research these diets because how do you know if it is healthy if you don't look into it. Actually the low carb/high fat diet is very healthy and much more in tune with our physiology than a vegetarian diet. You are young, so the fact that you are not experiencing any health problems with your diet doesn't mean anything, young people can eat very poorly and it won't affect them …. until they get older and then they will pay for it.

1/5 of your brain by weight is cholesteral. Your body makes several times as much cholesterol as you eat every day. Every hormone in your body needs cholesteral to be made and every cell in your body has cholesteral in it. 70% of your brain by dry weight is fat. Eating a vegetarian diet will not give you enough fat, protein, and cholesteral to properly nourish you.

  30. I recently started watching your videos and I am really happy that you are vegetarian. I like your channel even more now. You are so sweet and awesome <3. I am vegan and it was very difficult for me to become vegan because I had high cholesterol and chronic migraines before going vegan and I did not want to worsen my problems. But I did it and I recently got my blood test results and I am perfect in everything!! I lowered my cholesterol and and my migraines have almost disappeared. I know a vegan diet can be scary but it is very simple to supplement where you obtain your vitamins you should look into nutritional yeast for vitamin B12. I think that a video showing how to prepare your recipes would be amazing they sound very delicious.

  31. Thanks so much Autumn; love you and your Videos and my intuition tells me you are one of the most honest talented person I ever watched; thanks again and keep up the good work…

  32. You are a very smart and very motivated person. I have interest in eating good and being healthy but I dont really know how to go about it. ;3;

  33. If you're a fan of Mexican flavours, you might enjoy http://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/yamadillas-vegan-quesadillas/
It's very simple to make and is super delicious, you can make it as spicy as you like 🙂

  34. I'm sorry that this is off subject, but can I ask what you do for a living? How did you get enough money together for your surgery? I have a friend that really wants the surgery, but we don't know how much or how to get the money for it. Thank you

  35. Please, please, please! Candlestick, Cooking, Toothpastes, and everything else video! Anyway you want it, whenever you want it. I know it can be very interesting and inspiring.

Thank you so much for sharing your diet. ☺
